Using PGSE NMR for chemical mixture analysis: Quantitative aspects
نویسنده
چکیده
Pulsed gradient spin echo NMR coupled with a data processing approach such as direct exponential curve resolution algorithm may be used to resolve individual components in a mixture. Differences in the diffusivities of the components lead to differences in their signal decay behavior in the experiment and allow for pure component spectra to be resolved. Because the experiment is echo-based, differences in the relaxation behavior of the nuclei within the various components lead to nonquantitative spectra. As a consequence it is rarely used to directly determine the levels of the components quantitatively. This article explores the effects of signal loss in the PGSE NMR experiment because of relaxation and describes an extrapolation method to ultimately obtain quantitative pure component spectra from mixtures. Examples of surface-modified nanoparticles are presented. 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Concepts Magn Reson Part A

Measurement of axon radii distribution in orientationally unknown tissue using angular double-pulsed gradient spin echo (double-PGSE) NMR
Introduction We present an analytical diffusion model for measuring axon radii distribution in orientationally unknown tissue using angular d-PGSE NMR. S-PGSE NMR reflects the underlying axon properties that restrict internal diffusion. Estimating these properties using s-PGSE, however, requires prior knowledge of tissue orientation and high q-values, inhibiting clinical application of these me...
متن کاملCombined Use of Pulsed Gradient Spin Echo and High Resolution Magic Angle Spinning to Investigate Solutes Diffusion in Presence of a Chromatographic Stationary Phase
1. Introduction We recently introduced a novel analytical method based on the Pulsed Gradient Spin Echo (PGSE) experiment and High Resolution Magic Angle Spinning (HRMAS), which combines the advantages of column chromatography separation and NMR structural analysis [1]. Specifically, we showed that, in a PGSE experiment, the separation of the NMR spectra of the components of a mixture could be ...
متن کاملPulsed-field-gradient measurements of time-dependent gas diffusion.
Pulsed-field-gradient NMR techniques are demonstrated for measurements of time-dependent gas diffusion. The standard PGSE technique and variants, applied to a free gas mixture of thermally polarized xenon and O2, are found to provide a reproducible measure of the xenon diffusion coefficient (5.71 x 10(-6) m2 s-1 for 1 atm of pure xenon), in excellent agreement with previous, non-NMR measurement...

This work presents the physicochemical characterization of two ionic liquids (ILs) with small phosphonium cations, triethylpenthylphosphonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([P2225][Tf2N]) and (2-methoxyethyl)trimethylphosphonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([P222(201)][Tf2N]), and their mixtures with Li(+). Properties such as the electrochemical window, density, viscosity and ionic ...

By combining the information from 19F, 1H-HOESY and PGSE NMR methodologies, unprecedented direct evidence has been obtained for the formation of supramolecular assemblies in solution between the trinuclear cyclic AuI basic compounds ([Au(mu-C2,N3-bzim)]3 (bzim = 1-benzylimidazolate), 1, and [Au(mu-C,N-C(OEt)=N-p-C6H4-CH3)]3, 2, on one hand, and the trinuclear cyclic HgII acid complex [Hg(mu-C,C...
